Jo grew up in the foothills of the Sierra Madre mountains, lived along the shores of Lake Michigan and the prairies of Iowa, and now resides in Florida along the Gulf of Mexico. She feels lucky to have lived in so many beautiful places where she experienced a diversity of environment and culture and where she was able to obtain a lot of visual references for her work.

Being encouraged by her mother (also an artist), Jo studied art from many  instructors who taught not only the principles and elements of design but also the techniques used in a variety of media. She likes to create unusual textures by painting on various types of surfaces such as burlap and rice paper. Although watercolor is her media of  choice she often uses other media to achieve specific looks or may combine media for variety in texture.

Jo belongs to numerous associations in the Tampa Bay area and teaches watercolor at the Fine Arts Center in Pasco County.  Her work has been displayed in and around the Tampa area at various shows and galleries, and in various government and office buildings. Her work can be found in both private and corporate collections throughout the United States and are for sale at "Toucan Tango Fine Arts and Decorative Arts" in Clearwater Beach, Florida and at a variety of galleries and shops in Florida and California.
